'04 VW R32 (250hp, 6spd, all-wheel drive)......just a Golf that got too much Gamma radiation Image.

One of the main reasons I bought it was because my gear fit.....the handling, performance and "fun factor" were important too. I grew tired of having a pickup truck so I could haul monster cabinets....plus my back is starting to feel as old as I am so the smaller cabinets help in that regard as well.

Howard how much was that "newbie" rig? I need a good amp badly. I have a ****** little tube amp and I would like a real amp again. Oz dollars would be fine.

Lindsay: It's a great philosophy if you can manage it. I've put up with a lot of ****** stuff of all kinds (not necessarily guitars and stuff) over the years and luckily, now I am able to visit the top shelf.

Nice wheels, Brian. The Golf is on my list - going shopping over the next 2 weeks.

$3200, Nate.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Ken.

Cool, Jeff. I thought about Ampeg but didn't pursue it. I went to my 'local' dealer and tried out all the goodies that he had. I guess if I had gone further afar I may have hit on it. Marcello, Jason and the rest of the guys and gals at Eastgate have been very good to me (as I have to them!) so I was more than happy to give them the business. They always give me a good discount and throw in a few freebies - that's always nice! Image

"Now I am able to visit the top shelf"; thanks for bringing us along for the ride, I've really enjoyed your reports from that lofty place.

Can you imagine the salesman at the VW dealership when Brian, came in with all his equipment and said if you can get it all in ill buy it.the salesman's thinking you want to fit all that stuff plus yourself into a VW golf this is a joke right.

I played through Nemisis 600wt head and 8x10 cab at an outdoor gig yesterday. These are Eden's economy line amps. What a great sound that cab had. It really moved a lot of air. I had never played through an 8x10 cab before and I was very impressed. If they weren't so big and hard to lug around!!

Ken......actually I think the sales guy thought the bigger joke was fitting me in it Image.

Luckily I thought ahead and just measured my gear in various configurations (as small as possible) and just took a tape measure with me to the dealerships. I really liked the Mini Cooper S but there was no way to fit all of my stuff.

That stuff about the "top shelf" sounds so pompous and crass having read it. Makes me sound like a smart *ss braggart! Sorry guys - It wasn't intended that way!

Howard....I didn't take it that way at all. I get the best stuff I can afford (or better than I can actually afford) as well.....no shame in that !

Right now I'm 6'2" and 250 flabby pounds. I'm just starting my regimen to get down to my comfy weight of 220-ish.....much smaller than that and I start feeling weak.

Nor did I, Howard! Nothing wrong with having nice things, and I meant what I said about enjoying your posts about the amp, the Gibson, etc. Keep 'em coming!
