Chris; what is a real price????

Vintage guitar price guide tells us Pre 70's is worth $3500.00 to $5000.00. I paid $4,200.00.

Were you in that range?????

I think that the MG that is up for auction is my old one. Can anyone there ask them if it came from the US?

Chicago Music Exchange might have sold it to them.

Jeff, Time to move that baby. It's taking up to much room in your home. I can, and have the resources to double your investment AND pay for shipping.

If this works for you let me know.

dswp: I paid way over the range in the book...I think you'd be lucky to just get the OPPORTUNITY to pay the prices listed in that book. The thing is, when one pops up on one of those "craigslist" type ads, they are usually "underpriced" and snapped up quickly. Mine never got listed. I had called Gary of Gary's Guitars inquiring about a 4005 listed on his website. It had already sold, but he said he might have a similar one coming in soon... He called me about a month later and said he'd just received one and told me his price, which I thought was way high, but I went ahead with it, since it was exactly what I wanted....

For sale: one lovingly cared for, but showing it's age somewhat, 4005WB, sacrifice at $2,000,00.00, willing to let go for half that! Image

and I won't do windows, maybe Mac OSX, but not Windows!

We have to remember most of these basses are 60s Ric 4005s,any 60s Ric is worth bucks just because they are rare,4005s should be more rare then a 64 RM1999 but how often do you see a RM1999,let alone for sale and what would you pay for one.The 4005 was a less popular model now more desirable do to there rarity. In my opinion the sound of a 4005 is awesome.probably better sounding than the 4001 only now do we appreciate the 4005 for what it is and always has been.

The 4005 was a less popular model just because no famous bassist played it.... Think what would have happened if people like McCartney, Squire, Wyman or Waters would have used it as their favourite instrument... Oh yes, Entwistle used it...but for a very short period and a really few musicians in the world (except Rick forum members) consider John Entwistle a "rickenbacker artist"

Entwistle's 4005 shows up in quite a few pics in the Bass Culture book.
