Steve, I send guitars all over the world and there are a couple of things you'll need to know.
1.The shipping limitations for USPS are either going to be 79" or 108" and that is length + girth. You'll have to check with the Post office on the limits for Turkey and if they're like my small, country guys, they will have to go " get the book".
2.If you get the funds by International bank Cheque or International Money Order, you will actually have to call your bank to see that they have cleared the bank they were drawn on. I called my bank on a check from Italy and they said that it had cleared but it had not cleared the bank that it was drawn on in Italy!! That was a six month nightmare, so be patient and careful. The best way is Paypal (non credit card), or Western Union.

Yeah, the guy can get the guitar,decide that there is some kind of microcosmic scratch that you didn't mention and dispute the charges. Then,you have an international credit card charge-back to deal with.

He is now going to send the money via Western Union.

Good for you!! Cash in hand is better that a "Turkey" in the bush. Please forgive my inane attempt at humor, but it's early and I needed a good laugh at my own expense. Way to go, Steve.

I too am sick Bob, as you can see from my Rick Forum ID. The first step was for us to admit that we had a problem. Now the question becomes..."do we want to do anything about this problem?" My answer is..."no!"

Step 1. admit I am powerless over Rickenbacker and that my life(wife) has become unmanageable!

Or, you could say "my wife has become expendable".....Keep your Ricks-out with the domestic help!!

I received the money today and it seems that all is well. Now the hard part begins, letting it go and hoping the monkeys at UPS get it there in one piece. Why can they get it to Turkey in 4 days and I can't get something from Michigan to New York in 5 days?

"If you use UPS, you might be able to ship the instrument "Freight Collect". This means, you'll ship the instrument to the guy and he paids all shipping related charges at the time of delivery to the driver. And of course you won't ship until you've received full payment for the instrument first."

If the buyer does not pay the freight collect, it will bounce back to you to pay it!

Well, the saga continues. UPS - $346.40, FedEx - $441.57!!!! Apparently the box is "oversize" and that puts it into another category. Looks like it will be USPS. Length is 52" and width is 21" so it looks like it will make it under the 78" limit. Just have to wait for the buyer to OK it. It will be cheaper though. Just don't know if I trust 'em....

Maybe a smaller box would help. When I shipped my bike home to Chicago from Utah a few weeks ago(FedEx), the box the bike was in was bulging at the top. The person in the store told me that if I could squeeze the box together on top and re-tape it, I might save some money. So I did. I couldn't have squeezed the box in more than half an inch on top, but that little bit put it into a different size class and almost cut my cost to ship the bike in half!
