Do they have the same ohm reading? Could you use them for a bass?

They are the same other than the threads. If you go with nuts you won't be able to the height very easily. A "J-nut" might work if you could find one that small.

You can use a nut, but it has to be *under* the pickup. You can actually solder the nut to the pickup, or use super glue, of you are careful.

So the screw passes through the pickguard, though the pickup, and to the nut.

I've done this with the threaded model when the threads where stripped.

Robert, the toasters used on the bass are the guitar toasters. I only have experience with vintage models from the two 4001's I own, so I don't know if they ever made a high gain toaster. The ones I've seen all have six magnets.

Here's a J-nut. It would just clip on. This one is a 1/4". They make them smaller. I'm not sure if you can get one small enough.
