Believe it or not, this week is the best weather all summer here in NJ...sunny, 8o degrees with low humidity - normally unheard of here in August. Rode the H-D to work all week.

We're looking forward to Sept and Oct in SF--long Indian Summer (er, sorry...Native American Summer) is the rule up here.

I lived in SF from 76 to 88 ... the summers are cold and windy ... it is a good city for restaurants ... California has 2 seasons ... 6 months of dry weather and then 6 months of wet weather ... and you have to love the way Arnold pronounces Caaleefornya ...

6 months of wet weather? Not down here.

I'm an L.A. native, and except for 3 years in Hawaii, have been here all my life. We have winter (mild-to-cold) spring (mild, nice) summer (nice-to-very hot) and fall (pleasant). Not a lot of rain. Rarely humid. No tornadoes. No hurricanes. OK, an earthquake now and then.

The weather varies wildly here in Melbourne......

We're in the last week of winter. One day last week we had a maximum of 13c and they are predicting 20 to 23c for the weekend. Great barbie weather!!

Summer can be strange, too.......... Christmas day could be anything from 20c to 40c plus!!

We had a very wet winter last winter here in SF, but it was 4 months' wet, not 6. Usual is a couple of months of some rain, with sun in between, and clear skies most of the time. In late summer we have foggy mornings. Winter we have fog some days all day long.

I suffer from foggy mornings a bit too often, I think........

Just got back from a gig and I have to confess, I'm suffering from a foggy evening! Funny experience tonight-I was playing a solo gig at a local bar with my usual acoustic complement-an Ovation, a Yamaha, my bouzouki, and my mandolin (the latter two made by a fantastic luthier/friend). It was a great gig, lots of fun and overall, a really good set. But, it was the first night I've played where there were several tunes that I thought should be played on an electric. I'm sure I wouldn't even have considered an electric on many of these tunes if it wasn't a Ric but given my store sessions on Rics and the comments on this forum, I'm wondering how I can use it in the future. For instance, I did a magnificent version of Bring It On Home (an old Sam Cooke tune) and another traditional Irish tune, (The Rambling Irishman), that I think would have kicked butt on a Ric. I can't wait to get the guitar. I think I will be using it in a very interesting way. At least, I hope to be!

I actually grew up in the city. Out on 45th Avenue. I moved away about 11 years ago. My wife is from Petaluma and she worked in Sausalito for a few years. Most of my family is in the south bay and eastbay, but my mom is holding steadfast in the city. My wife and I along with my youngest son will be back next Friday. My mom has been pretty sick and is back in the hospital. She should be ok, but it has been a rough haul for her. So we'll probably be pretty busy with her.

Anyway, I hope that Indian summer comes for Labor Day. If memory serves me right it should be warm at the beach by then. By the way, have you been to the new Cliff House? I missed it last time, but looking forward to seeing the new building.
