I think the "detractors" are all dissatisfied with the reverse headstock of the C64 series. Back in the 1960s, the left handed models were made with the standard "right-handed" neck and headstock, only the body wings were reversed. Since the C64 series is meant to mirror the Beatle's equipment as it looked back then, the bass has this feature. But the right-handed ones have an "upside down" look to them so they look as upside down as the lefties . . . is this getting confusing? Yeah, me too. But the fact is that the C64 is electronically similar to the desirable V63 (Toaster and Horseshoe), has a structurally advanced neck and truss system (a la the 4003), and has the simplified trim (dot position markers, unbound body and neck). So, if the reversed headstock (and the premium price) don't bother you, you are going to get a top quality vintage-style Rick.

I suppose the premium price is a bit bothersome, though.

If you take into consideration the fact that a used 90's 4003S sells in the area of $1200 and used horseshoes from V63's have hit $500, the price for a new C64 isn't all that bad. Remember, this model is in its infancy as far as how many have been issued. There aren't many out there. Also, how many reversed headstock, right-handed Rics have been issued before the C64? I don't know of any. If the C64 has a life-expectancy of other Ric issues, the reverse headstock alone will make it a highly sought-after guitar. Then take into account the value of the tapered pickup surround of the C64, or the zero-fret, sanded horns & satin finish of the C64s. There are very rare features on the these models.

Due to the fact that the c64 is a faithful reproduction of an iconic Beatles guitar, in ten years time it may may well be the model that people will be searching for, and paying dearly for, along the lines of a 4005.

Andrew, what do you say we start lobbying for RIC to discontinue these models already! I think there have been more then enough made!

I'm looking forward to getting mine. I grabbed the Jetglo C64S POTR got in and I love the neck. I'm hoping the C64 will be every bit as good as the C64S since I may gig with it. I can be patient since I ordered my C64 in March and wasn't expecting it until around Christmas.

Hey Ron, have you posted pics of that Jetglo C64S here before? I can't recall...

I take it since it's JetGLO (emphasis on the GLO), it doesn't have the matte finish typical for an "S"?

I haven't posted photos of it. I guessed no one would be interested in seeing it. It has the regular gloss finish.
