It was Cordell "Boogie" Mosson. I also saw a picture of Betty Davis' band bassist Larry Johnson with a 4001. BTW, Betty Davis' first album is a great funkrock record. Superb bass playing by Larry Graham and Doug Rauch (one track only).

Finally! Here's a photo of Larry Graham playing a Rickenbacker 4005 WB when Sly Stone appeared on The Andy Williams Show in 1970.

Could be just the poor video quality, but it looks like the pickguard may have modified.
