This thread could go on forever because list is never ending, but here's a little teaser and winner gets the Clough Classics seal of approval, this song was recorded in march 66 but not released until recently. The band had some success in the sixties certainly in UK but hits in US were minor, but in the realms of British Beat which essentially is what Clough's Classics started out as initially they carved out their place in history.

Joe Cocker - "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"

The Beatles gave this to Joe Cocker, who released it in 1969. The Beatles released their version first. Cocker's version was used on the soundtrack to the movie All This and World War II, released in 1976. A strange mix of World War II documentary footage set to the music of the Beatles, the movie bombed and has barely been heard of since. Others who covered The Beatles on the soundtrack include Peter Gabriel, Elton John, Tina Turner, Leo Sayer, Frankie Laine and the Bee Gees

Freddie and the Dreamers count - they are Manchester's finest sons! (or not)

But they don't count in my book to best of my knowledge they never recorded a Beatles song, admittedly Sheena says live version only but frankly I doubt Freddie is on it. he used a number of bands to back him all called Dreamers of course once the originals had called it a day at end of sixties, if you ever visit Tenerife one of them has a bar there, one of these bands decided to go out on their own as The Dreamers playing Freddie's hits plus others,I bought a very cheap CD once because it had numbers on by FREDDIE AND THE DREAMERS I did not recall them ever recording, turned out to be this outfit.

Who did Ob-la-di? Was it Marmalade?

Yes they had a number one with it but it was also done by a British Reggae type band called The Bedrocks who mad number 20 with it, their one and only chart success.

On a roll here, another little teaser, what was the first Lennon -McCartney song to chart in US made number 77 in June 63 and who had the hit, as I believe if you made top 100 in states you could class it as a hit.

Thanks for the info on that film Brian, never heard of it, I do not doubt you are correct on Joe Cocker but soundtrack list states Bee Gees, though they are also credited with Golden Slumbers, have you got the sound track.
