The knot could very well be part of the reason, Karl.

It's not lacquer, incidentally. It's a polyurethane material and as such is quite a bit more resilient than lacquer.

Just phoned Mike Smith and he is going to take a look at it.Hopefully that will be the end of the matter.If he cant fix it he will replace it.Top Bloke!!
