Plus, they can charge more for gigs, and getting in opens up more venues to them, especially in the States.

...oh well... they could sell t-shirts with "We're not in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame" on them... 8-)
"Charge more for gigs"... uh... if they played here, in Russia, for $100 a ticket, i'm afraid nobody would come... xcept for my family, perhaps, although i'm not sure.

Sheena,

That's a very cool idea for a t-shirt. They should go for it. It'd be great.

Russia?! Cool!

Well, David, why not? My Man always tells me "if you can't get something everybody has, just be proud of not having it and being different". Anyway, i do wish them to get there if they want it, and make a new hit record, and celebrate their 100th anniversary by playing a gig at Red Square — or somewhere else... Ah, dreams, dreams...
PS ...uh... 'tis cool in Russia today... no, it's really cold...

I like that philosophy. Makes good sense to me. Heck, they don't need a hit to play Red Square. Just a good promoter and a good package tour though perhaps if they settled for a 50th Anniversary, that'd be good enough.

PS - I was there in a June and it was really hot!

Well David, Red Square is a bit of a dream. Not so many are allowed to play there. But i'd be pretty happy if it was Olimpiisky or Gorbushka... And in any case, a concert at Red Square would attract politicians, businessmen, etc, which is no good for a rock show, IMO. I've asked Frank about the prospects of playing in Russia once via email ('twas a coupla years ago), and he said they'd be glad to, but no promoter here seemed to show any interest. Since nothing has happened ever since, i doubt they ever will... 8-(
PS - yes in June it's sometimes very hot here, and in July, and in August sometimes. But for the rest of the year, the weather is somehow 'unfriendly' for some... i like it anyway.
