Roy: Crispian St Peters' version is great. The We Five version had a bit more of a rough edge and in a folk rock style.

Roy thanks for sharing Crispian St Peters' version. I don't recall hearing that version before either.

I'd never heard the Crispian St. Peters version either, but to me it's so under-produced it sounds unfinished. Perhaps it's just that I'm used to the WE FIVE version.

Mr Dieingly Sad - WOW! Like was said earlier ... how in the world did such talent not make more hits? GREAT harmonies.
I hear echo's of "Call Me" by Chris Montez (1966). "Dieingly" is a better / more complex song than Call Me but I wonder if either one copied from the other? Probably.

That is SOOOO early. They look like the 1961 Beach Boys...
By the time MDS was released, they had moved on to longer hair and corduroy.
MDS was a fluke. Their "Greatest Hits" compilation showcases over 20 of their songs, of which most are their compositions.
I awaited it anxiously after ordering it several years ago.
When it arrived, I listened to it through once. It was difficult, because MDS was song #5, and there was nothing in # 1-4 anywhere near as well-written, -sung, -played, or produced.
It was as if the band in the above photo played everything except "MDS" and when song #5 (MDS) came on, another bunch of guys--this time real prodigies--stepped in and gave the above geeks a pee break.

that is so weird! I'm listening to MDS for about the 5th time this afternoon and they just sound soooooo smooth.... like they could knock out beautiful songs like that all day long.

It was a big disappointment to me, as I had my mind set on another dozen lost gems.
Dang...I wish I could post some .wav files or sound .mpgs somehow...you guys wouldn't believe it...
