4004CII 4-2-5 conversion

I would be interested in Paul's take on the differences between the 4004CII5 and the 4004CII 4-2-5 ... it is one pretty bass ... I will miss having it around ...

Jeff Impressive work again, Im tempted when I get my hands on either a 4004cii or a 2000 series bass to get you to do a 4-2-5 for me. Not sure on the problems in shipping from the UK to the US and back again, and if they would try and charge import duty when the bass comes back to the UK again.

That flame and quilt on the body is sensational!

the problem with converting 4004 basses is I am out of the specific bridges that I use ... I will have to scrounge up a few more ... but I do have several 4003 5 string tailpieces and bridges on hand ...

yep ... I will have to get a 4004CII ... they are even nicer than the 4004L and 4004CI basses ... I have been yearning for a trans red 4004 ... except I need to find another gold 2 3/8" 5 string bass bridge ... I have a line on a chrome and black but not a gold one ... also I'd like to take a 4004CII mapleglo and convert it to a 5 string and put on black hardware ... hehehehe that would be cool ...

anybody considering a 4004CII I must say those basses are lookers, players and have a nice vibe ... 100% rickenbacker ...

You left out how lite they are,they are very comfy,If the neck was a little flatter It would be hard to beat.

ya the 4004CII is lighter than the 4004L ... and I like the neck just the way it is ...

Cii is lighter? I would have thought that the wood used on the Cii is a little more dense. Guess I was misinformed.

the 4004CI is the lightest, the 4004CII is the next lightest, then the 4004L is almost as heavy as the 4003 ...

Also the weight of the bass will vary a little due to variances in wood and year by year the shape varies slightly so no 2 basses are exactly the same weight ...

Hey Jeff, have you checked out a Schaller bridge? The 5 string bridges adjust from 2-17/32" to 2-3/4". It's just slightly wider than 2-3/8 at the most narrow setting. They look a lot like the bridges on the 4004.

I had a 4 string version on my 4001, and I have a 5 string version on one of the basses I built.

I love the Schaller bridges ... I use them on my Fender 4-2-5 basses all the time ... that bridge just barely puts the strings outside the range of the hb1 and hb2 pickups ... 2 3/8" is the magic number ...

The Schaller 5 string bridge is my favorite 5 string bridge ... Kahler makes a bridge that goes from 2 1/4" to 3" spacing but they are a little cumbersome ... I use them on some of my 2000 series basses ...

here's the ones I really like ... if anybody can find these I will buy as many as you can get ...
