Any other 4000's out there??

Also someone noted in a shot of my 4000 & 4001 together that there was a different spacing of the neck on the body. It is 3/16" shorter from the neck to the short horn, & 1/4" shorter from the neck to the long horn on the 4001. I had never noticed this before. It must be because of the added dimensions needed for the binding on the body.
Plus five minus five!
Also, the 50's chickenhead knobs are just something I added for a different look. This bass always was a player, not a collector's piece. I played beautifully when I got it in '85 (still does)-never had any neck adjustments(still has factory paint daubs on the truss rods). The action can be set as low as any Les Paul guitar I've ever seen without a buzz, except now it's tuned down 1/2 step so I had to raise it a bit.

The pots are original, as was everything when I got it in '85, but the wiring is my doing since I put in a SD humbucker & split/series/paralell switch. Also I put a new .47 cap in as my soldering skills aren't that great & I burned the original. It was a yellow Taiwan .047 MFD 200 VDC cap. I still have it if you want to see a pic.

Here's my 1975 4000 in Jetglo. I had my eyes on it for a year as it had been hanging collecting dust in a used instruments store in Melbourne. I finally decided to try it out one day and fell in love with it.

Dave,
Yup, the finish is all original and she has a few nicks and scratches on the rear.....but nothing serious. I also polished her up before snapping the photo too! I want a Fireglo one now ;^)

Here's a Fireglo 73. Split tailpiece and Grover Wave tuning machines. Notice the squared off edges on the chrome surround along with the small gap between the surround and the pickguard.
This is not my bass. I saved the photo when I saw it a few years ago. I do have a larger version if anyones interested.
