As my hopes are fading of getting a 4005 in the near future I'm looking at the alternatives and this is one of them - along with the EB2, Starfire and some Burns bass - has anyone played different semi acoustic basses? Any faves?

I've owned a gigged with hollow-body basses for years, I've had my fave, a Gibson EB-2 for 15 years now, it's an amazing bass. If you're familiar with Paul Samwell-Smith or Chas Chandler you know the sound. A few other hollow-bodies I own: Epiphone Rivoli, Phantom Teardrop Hollow, and the obligatory Hofner Beatle.
My newest bass is an Ibanez Artcore, my first full-scale hollow-body. I love it! And only $400 brand new.

My Friend has a 12 String Fender Coronado Sunburst
about'67. I was recording with it before got my 360FG 12.
Played Acoustic it it louder than the 360 12 but does not sound as good in the mids, playability is OK,& the strings are high octave string first opposite to Ricks.
The Fender pickups are total rubbish I assume they are single coil maybe different pickups would improve these guitars?
These guitars are cheap for vintage guitars though

Total rubbish...hmmm as I recall these pups are classic DeArmond single coils. Wonderful pups, at least on the Gretsch of your choice. Maybe it is just the Fender?

Does need some work on the electrics though!
Compared to the 360 12 it sounds like a banjo theres no depth to the sound maybe because the neck is a bolt on design so less sustain?
Maybe Fender insisted Roger Rossmeisl use their traditional bolt on necks?
The neck is very similar to the Jaguar/Jazzmaster 12 string hockey style head necks.
They do look nice though!
