Well that's why I'd build one. To put in better parts.

my local shop let me keep one for a weekend to test run it and i never got comfy on it...then again p basses never set well with me anyway which will be a shame when i finally do p bass in tribute to lynott: black, chrome hardware and chrome pickguard with an added silhouette of his face on the body.

Ooohh that's nice.

I'm not a big P bass fan.. I don't like 'em one bit. But I do want at least on.. weather I'll use it or not. So a Harris bass copy (the only thing I'll prolly use a P for) would be my best bet.

Jazz basses are nice. I owned 75 ri 62 ri. You will like it. They have a nice comfy feel, thin neck and sound nice. in my opinion a Rick and Fender Jazz is the perfect setup.

I think the better bass I built out of parts was
an '02 MIM jazz body and a '78 precision neck (2octive ebony fretless completed by a luthier in
Brooklin,Ny.)The only regret I have is that my choice of pup's was bad;'67 custom shops.I would have rather gone with the good 'ol plain custom shop
jazz pup's like I did in the '76 jazz but I'm in no hurry.Needless to say I like jazz basses but a Ric is a Ric.I have four JB's however I still seem to gravitate to the Ric's.I'll post pics when I can figure out my p.o.s. camera and windows.

So.. is that a vote fer a customized J or another Ricky? Hehe.

If the Geddy J doesn't work out it'll be ripped apart and turned into that all black J I put a pic of.

Out of stuff to buy a 4003 ("S" or not) is near the top of my list, just like the Geddy J.
