Im my right hand I have, for instance,a 4004LK. In my left hand is nothing but someone is willing to put $8000.00 plus into it. At this point I begin to weigh things out and do you know what? The 4004LK loses big time! I could duplicate it sonic-wise with a 4004 and an extra pickup for less than $1500.00. Most people I know including myself need other things more than a $8000.00+bass that's really only a $2800.00 bass. It's not like it actually belonged to Lemmy!
But hey, that's just me.

Sorry Bob......that is certainly not what I meant. The LK is not going anywhere without me. I just meant that if you ever wish to part with that stunning 4002 that I would certainly be interested (fat chance but it doesn't hurt to put the thought in the back of your head).
Dane....I fully understand what you are saying and somewhat agree. The way I look at it is that I only paid $1800 for it and for $1800 it is a killer bass that I want to own. If some character actually approached me with $17K for my LK I would certainly have a hard time resisting. I am not hurting for money now so selling it would just result in me buying 17 Rics.......I'd rather have the LK than 17 "average" Rics.....an '87 Buick Grand National sounds pretty tempting though.

Anyway....my point is that if I needed the money it would certainly be an option but I don't at this point and the LK would likely be more valuable the longer I hang on to it.
Also....I want at least one person besides Lemmy that owns one of these to be out using it where others can see/hear it and I think it is a shame that most will probably end up tucked away somewhere as an investment.
Besides....if I sold it who would bring one to the Mid-Atlantic RicFest?!?!?!?

Buick '87 GN!
Damn I remember those thangs.
I also remember that some of them old ones had an oil coking problem in the turbo's bearing. Real warranty hassle for unknowing souls.

Buick GN turbos had their own oil feed off of pressure side of the oil pump so they shouldn't have had any coking issues in the turbo. At least I never heard of any under warranty as I was working at a Buick dealer back in the day. This sounds more like a cold weather problem.
Hey Jared, Brian, let's hijack another thread.

my friend was the Buick head mechanic, that oil feed worked under pressure.
turn off the motor-no feed. so they installed a pressurized air can to force feed the oil over the rear bearing after shut-down.
hijack it is!

My brother is a huge Buick fan. He probably has 4 70-72 GS 455s. He also owns a pristine '87 GN. All of those cars are fast as he!!. I bought his first '72 GS 455 back in the late '70s. I was in high school and gas got to be too much. I sold it for cheap. 10+ years later, he found it for sale. A tree had fallen on it. He bought it, restored it and it is as good as new. Buick...Go Fast With Class.

Here is my heavily modified(big surprise huh?) 1966 Buick Skylark. I've had the car since high school.
