Paul, I know, I know.

I should hang my head in shame... I guess I'm just a toaster fiend.
As the undisputed expert on finishes (among other things),is there any way the the toasters can be "re-chromed" gold? Or is that a painfully stupid question? lol!

That RCA guitar is the one I was referring to. I still think the guards look better on this guitar. If the two-tier guard won't work, the single guard would still look great.

as a goldsmith I'd say : get to a jeweller's and get them gold plated.
Shouldn't set you back a lot.
I believe they can plate it over the chrome.
18Kt is the nicest colour gold.

Brian, I agree on the guard topic. The guitar looks better with one, whether one or two tiered.
Wim, Jewelers don't do too much of this sort of thing here in the USA.
But a motorcycle chrome shop could do those cases in gold. Try your local Harley dealer to find out who does their plating.
Or, just leave them. Gretsch mixes gold and chrome on many of their models.

My RCA-SPC has chrome hardware and my 380L PZ has gold.
The RCA model is the only RIC 12 string with factory humbuckers that I know of. I would not change them on mine.
