Wait! You mean there's a vocal version of "Sleepwalk"? Never heard it, but I can imagine it...
"Sleeeeeeeeepwalk... Na-na-nothing but Sleeeeeeepwalk..."
(think lounge lizard Bill Murray singing the "Star Wars" theme on Saturday Night Live)
OK, sorry 'bout that.

Brian you'll be telling me you'd like to hear Dance On by Kathy Kirby next.
This is the first version I ever heard of Sleepwalk, 44 years ago now, it is still in my view the best version.

Yes exactly right Roy. The performance was recorded live at the Albert Dock at the Remo Four Reunion in 1992.

Actually instrumentals is a subject I could go for hours about I love guitar instrumentals and have a lot of Cd's by acts probably no one has heard of.
May be self indulgent and post one or two for discussion.

Roy that version of sleepwalk is brilliant. Who was that?
Kathy Kirby of Secret Love/I belong fame? No one has mentioned her name to me in years and years. I loved her voice. Plus she was a very pretty lady. I don't have any of her material to post unfortunately.

The man who you must have aspired to be at one time Brian, Hank Marvin. Taken from The Shadows debut album.
Here's Kathy's biggest hit Brian just for you

Roy you are somewhat correct, the first guitar solo that I ever mastered was "Apache" by the Shadows. It was the only Shadows instrumental that I ever played.
After that I discovered American blues and I spent most of my time learning songs and in particular licks off early recordings of artists like Howling Wolf, Wille Dixon, Chuck Berry etc. Learning blues licks and chord progressions gave me a strong foundation for playing guitar.
Thanks for posting that version of Secret Love. Strange but I must admit that I prefer Doris Day's version now.

I mentioned my passion for guitar instrumentals though a big Shadows fan,I did not get my own record player till 62, this is the second record I ever bought, re-recording I have to admit, only have original on vinyl but the track still excites me when I hear it, this one does have a Russain connection as it was originally entitled Samovar.

I vaguely remember that tune but I am not so sure that it was by the same group. Who else if anyone, recorded that Roy?
