"I Don't Want to Spoil The Party" -- short, but in that Perkins mode again. I didn't notice we were restricting it to pre-'65. Oops!

-- I Saw Her Standing There (in all the recorded concert footage I ever saw, GH never once even came close to the recorded version's solo)
-- All My Loving (Where I discovered GH could actually play with a pick AND his fingers at the same time, dang him)
-- You Can't Do That (Lennon playing lead? Who knew..?)
-- I Call Your Name (George BENDS the 'B' at the 11th fret and the 'E' at the 7th -- on his 360-12!)

Three faves would be,
1. Long Tall Sally (Lennon on lead)
2. Don't Bother Me (Harrison lead) I always liked this song played very loud.
3. Nowhere Man (Harrison lead)
4. And Your Bird Can Sing (McCartney and Harrison together) It's more than 3 and it's also '66 but who cares!
Three bad solos....I can't think of any but Yellow Submarine '66 (it's just chords) comes to mind.

A non-solo's better than a bad solo...but I can't think of any bad ones either, Karl...

Long live the Beatles, folks. There's a few weak or mediocore moments out there. But you have to think twice to count them, and there lays their greatness.

yup!.... well said.
Many of the memorable Beatle solos were not a whole lot more than repeating the main tune but with a little addition here and there. I've never been impressed with the "hey, ma, look how fast I'm playing these scales" kind of solo. It may show technical skill but the musicianship is often lacking.

Best:
1. You Can't Do That
2. I Don't Want To Spoil The Party
3. All My Loving
Not so good:
1. I Wanna Be Your Man
2. What Goes On
3. (no others, really...)

Absolute worst is the solo on ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. It trails out and goes out of tune at the end.
