sometimes I love the hi-gain and sometimes I wish it would just turn into a Gibson EB-O neck pickup that's just solid bass.
I actually had a Sidewinder on one of my 4001's.
You can see the BIG hole... I hate to say that it weakened the neck a bit, which changed the action. It sounded good though!

This is EXACTLY what i was wanted to hear! I'm looking for precisely that: both a wider freq. range, and lower output.. thank you, David!

Yeah, didn't Cliff Burton have both hi-gains and a Gibson Sidewinder in his bass? That bass sound was amazing!
