Ted was kind enough to send me a tracing of his 4002 pickguard which I used as a pattern to make the pickguard for my custom Ricky double neck. The spacing of the pickups was the same as the 4002 on the 5-string bass side and I used an HB1 in the rear and an unbuttoned high gain at the neck. I don't know how much of the sound can be attributed to the unusual spacing, but it's unlike anything I've ever heard out of a RIC bass before. It only happens when running both pickups with the tone and volume wide open but the closest thing to it is an Alembic with the "Q" control. The guitar side should be fretted soon. I can't wait to hear that.
