chords on bass ... that is dangerous ... some localities outlaw that ... myself I tend to shy away from that ... when singles notes from a bass are some awesome and profound ... but if you want to play chords get a nice happy guitar or keyboard ...
heheheheheh ... bass is cool ...

That is quite a spread Dave! The 4002 has been with me for about 25 years. It is almost an appendage at this point.

Ted, I played one (Chris's) yesterday for the first time. It’s probably one of the best basses I’v ever played..

ummm..i love to play chords...tho i also a lot of the time can do without a guitarist...lol...they tend to have bad time and play solos too much...who needs stevie ray vaughn stuff played on everything?...lmao...i would much rather do a trio with a sax and drummer or...sacrilege...just a duo with a drummer....not entirely serious here...but in a lot of ways im deadlee serious

Blair - I have and use a 360/12 quite a bit. Once you get the strings broken in, it stays in tune amazingly well.
I had the nut replaced by a luthier, who made a new one that spaced the strings out more, so you use more of the neck that is there, it makes a world of difference. This is known on this board as the Arnquist mod.
Some 12 strings (like mine) need the 12 saddle bridge, some do not. I guess it just depends. Like the rick basses they are great.
And you can play single notes, or chords! Wooo!

Hopefully without the lighter fluid (a la Hendrix)
Dave, you didn't even include your Rick doubles in that pic!

Actually, playing single notes or two-note chords on a twelve string sounds amazing. My prime example would be "The Cinema Show" by Genesis. You don't get much better than that.

I use double stops frequently. When used properly they can really fill in the sound. A good example is in "Low" by Cracker. The bassist plays doubles through the softer parts of the verse and then switches to singles for emphasis in the "chorus". I say "chorus" because the song uses the same 4 chords all the way through so it is just a psudo-chorus IMHO. Then there is always "Walk On The Wild Side". It does not sound as good without the doubles. It seems to me that the fretless in that song is a Rick.

Dave.......that is one of the finest buffet rooms that I've ever seen. Your taste is amazing. A serious case of "Ricdiction" but you appear happy as do the instruments. :^>) Are you, by chance, interested in adopting a son?

Thank you Rich;
Not looking to adopt, unless you come with a 4002.

As long as he brings the bass, and he wants to live in the garage.
