Fine points about the 12 string Wolfgang. I agree that it is the octave pairs and not the identical string pairs that makes the 12 string sound interesting.

Uhhh, Excuse me, but the 1st note of "Mr. Tambourine Man is on the "D" string; in fact, the open D...And it's Not played "barre" at 5th fret, either...McGuinn does Not play it that way.

I second what Don says. The MTM intro is in D nut position; in fact, the entire song as McGuinn has always played it is in open chording, and fingerpicked.
