Hahahaha Jared . . . if the nuts were made of brass, they would be much harder to modify, and they would yield a more consistent tone . . .

I just got a D-tuner hipshot put on one of my Ric's and got it back today. They told me they used super glue and graphite to build up the groove and make it smoother so the hipshot will de-tune properly.

A short time before this thread appeared I tried the superglue trick (but without baking soda) on my 4001v63, but it has a delrin (sort-of-nylon) nut. Superglue is not good with 'soft waxy plastics' like nylon.
The plastic started to go a bit soggy, so I removed the glue with indelicate haste! Should I have persisted? Would I have had better results with the baking soda added? Or is there some other nut building trick I should use?
