"So you were Ged's padawan learner...
Or did Geddy go to the dark side?"

I like to think that Geddy will turn around some day. Image

How to answer this question? I've been obsessing over these instruments for 13 straight years. No breaks. I love the sounds they make. I love the way they look. I love the way they feel. I love the way they ....smell. There...I've said it. Help me.

"Hi, Jason"
I'd give you a 12 step program to follow, but those 12 steps would probably lead to another Rick.. hehe.

It's not a 12-step program.

It's a 12-STRING program...

I think they have a great, stylish design which started with the Rossmeisl instruments in the 50's. The 300 series guitars are wonderful works of art as I see them. There are lots of edges coming to points wherever you look. The 330's has it's pointy horns. The 360's have the triangular inlays. Pickguards with round edges that come to points. The TRC comes to a point. Then to wrap it up with a BIG Exclamation point you add the slash as a sound hole. The design speaks attitude!
Plus, I think a good fireglow is the prettiest finish out there.
It doesn't hurt that they sound good to boot.

Jared, don't make me destroy you.
Or I could put the laughable quote from episode III...

"NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"

Hehe.

There was one of those in Episode II, as well!

As for the title of this thread,
What makes Rickenbacker special?
I say, what doesn't make a Rickenbacker special????!!!!

Another bad episode III quote...

"Anakin, you're breaking my heart."

ROFL! That could have been so much better. I laughed out loud in the theater the first time I heard that.

My favorite quote in episode III... Obi-Wan saying "Hello there." Love that tie in!

To stay on topic.. I love the Rick sound. My 4001 is amazing. It's a bit rough to play.. I've played cheaper basses that are easier to get around on, but the sound just gets me. I won't play anything that can't sound like a Rick... and I guess that means I'm stuck! Plus the shape of the 4000 series basses.. just amazing. Instantly recognizable.

Do you still have the Moog pedals, Dave?
Being Geddy influenced, I've always wanted those as well as the 4080. Now I've got one I need the other someday.
