Peter, you're tempting me to write a 5-post comment
BTW, i've heard from a friend that Mike Pender's officials once announced he could play a gig in Russia - is it true or a joke (or, more precisely - a "story", like the one which included the Beatles playing a short gig for securities in Sheremet'evo in late 60s)?

Peter,
Come to New York in July or perhaps we can arrange to meet at the Mohegan. I want to swing through the Maritimes this summer so we should get together!

Just visited for the first time since my last post.
We were absolutely nothing to do with The Silver Searchers. I have no idea about them. I presume their name was deemed to be too close to 'The Searchers'.
Mike Pender said to Kevin that there wouldn't be an issue with calling a tribute 'The Secret Searchers'. That's all I know about it.
It died on its a*se ayway, because someone bottled it at one of the shows. I left in disgust at the way things were going a short while after that incident. In fact, Mike Pender was there rehearsing with Oh Boy (at Leyland Cricket club) when I told the rest of the band to get stuffed!!

Hi,
They are from that general area. I am not connected or in contact in any way with the old band anymore. They continue unabated - and good luck to them. I do my own thing with my own classic rock band (at last making a Ric sound like a Ric!) - our paths do not cross, as we are playing different genres of music.
I am from Bolton, by the way.

Sheena,
The Searchers did get their name from the John Ford western of the same name. And Buddy Holly got the title of one of his greatest hits from a line the Duke used two or three times in the movie, "That'll be the day!".
