Most of the time if the seller has a no reserve auction thats private,It means if it looks like hes going to eat dirt he can shill the bid up without anyone knowing.other then that it looks OK.But be careful.

I would be a REAL stickler for terms of payment.
Something that can be protected. Even ebay escrow.
The 0 feedback thing raises a lot of red flags.
There are enough of those out there anyway; do you
really need the grief if this one is a scam?

Ken- aren't you selling a fireglo v63?

Well here's something odd: Ted pointed out(and I noticed also) that the headstock appears to be the older type. According to the RIC website this one was made in April 1998. I have a V63JG from March 1998 and it has the newer(slightly less cool) headstock.

Why? Could it be that this was an older one than mine but left the factory later than mine? Maybe its just a bad photo angle and this one actually does have the newer headstock.

Or....could it be a scam with a fake serial number?

There has been a seller from Penzance trying to sell vintage Rics and Fender for a while now. I am certain this is the same guy under a new name and would say this is, in all probability, a bogus auction.

He had a refinned 60's Jazz a few months ago. I got to the point of asking to talk to him and to view the bass and he told me he was sick, and could not be visited and had a bad throat and couldn't talk on the phone...

Avoid!

Yeah-
Avoid. There's a neat c64 that's come up for a little more-
needs some parts, but hey, if you don't mind the backwards
peghead it might be a fair deal.

Welcome to the forum Antony.

Do you own a RIC bass now ???

If not, might I suggest that you go out and pick up a new 4003??

I have a V63, CII 4004, and a couple of 4003's, and when I want my "Squire" fix, I always pick up my fireglo 4003.

The others are very nice, but the tone of the newer high gain pickups in the 4003 is pretty tough to beat. Besides that, the horseshoe pickup in the V63 is very cool looking and sounding, but it tends to get in my way.

A new 4003 with case could probably be had for about $1120.00

Welcome Antony,

I have an original RM1999 in the UK at present. If you want the real thing...

I am presently on hold to the Federal Reserve in Mexico City about the debt....

Scott,
I am a born again bassist, making do at the moment with the finest China can offer. The 'Crafter Cruiser' (stop laughing at the back!) has been an inexpensive way back into playing, but it's time to look for an upgrade.

So you can't remove the Horseshoe cover?

You can remove the cover of a horseshoe with a little "surgery"....it's not an "every five minute" operation

Antony,
Sure, I'll mail you a few. Most have seen them here, so I'll try not to clog the site even more...
