actually I am just doing what Ric did when they made the 4003s5 ... with a few small differences ...
and it does play better as a 5 than a 4 ... the extra tension of the 5th string makes the bass resonate better ... it is my theory that the 4003 neck is over designed ... which is good from a warranty point of view ... ie 4003 necks don't fail 99.9% of the time ... also I am getting good at setting up basses because I have about 15 hanging around my house ...

and all of the money that I made on the project became a gift to a single mom who was having trouble paying her bills ...
and Ric did the hard part ... they made a bass from a block of wood ... I just modified it ...

This bass gets it's official public debut January 21st at the Key Club in Hollywood. We're (
www.unionofsaints.com) playing with Leslie West and Michael Schenker.
If you're in the SoCA and would like tix, let me know. I'm sure I'll have some pix to post in the appropriate forum shortly thereafter.

I can't wait for more pics and I can't wait for the money for my 4-2-5. I've always wanted a 5 string Rickenbacker.. been a dream of mine.
If I could get a dream bass: a 4004L with the pickup not against the neck, high gains and 5 strings. Sweet....

Michael Schenker has pulled the plug on his entire US tour so we this show is not happening. Pix of Jeff's conversion in action will be a little latter in 06.
\blue {I announce the cancellation of the MSG USA 'Tales of Rockn' Roll' Tour since I did not receive the official letters from Bella Piper and Linda Schenker which I have requested. Unfortunately, I can not do this USA tour and need to protect myself. I will not come back to America unless Bella and Linda will stop threatning me in
unfair ways for the sake of money.I am now concentrateing on Europe, releasing the new MSG album; Tales of Rock 'n' Roll and establish my life in Germany and prepare for the Europe Tour 2006.
All the Best
Michael}

I read that Schenker was cancelling his tour, made me sad. Sorry it also affected you, Eric! Sounds like he won't be back anytime soon either, if he has people chasing after him for money...

Apparently his ex-wife is threatening to have his passport yanked should he step foot on US soil until a financial dispute over a missing child support check is resolved. Sounds like one got lost in the mail or otherwise but there is much bitterness and anger on both sides, His management and family suggested he just bag it.
