Wow I didn't know RIC would produce 8 string versions of the 4004CII.
Does any one know if they are gonna be equipped with 8-saddled bridge for independent intonation on each string? If yes, then GAS strikes again.

I'm sure it will have 8 individual string saddles this time around.

I didn't know this either.

Gee John, I'd check your site. It's said that for at least eight months now. Image

And while you're at it, have you noticed the 'old picture' of the 4003S/5 on there? It's actually a 4003S photo that's been retouched and an extra tuning key added to the headstock. LOL

Where does it say that?

John Hall said, "Where does it say that?"

Well John, it said that until this morning on this page. Someone changed the copy since I posted that message last night. At the bottom of the description on the right it now says "Soon to be available in a 6 string version." Until this morning it read "8 string version."

Also, I talked to someone at the factory last June who confirmed that there would be a 4004Cii8, but couldn't give specific info on it.

I also noticed that whoever changed that copy this morning forgot to change the copy on this page, as it still says "Discontinued Model- See 4004/5Cii" next to the listing for the 4003S/8.

Oh maaaaan!
I was already saving up for a 4004CII 8-string bass.
Now my wife is happy.

You guys aren't any fun at all.

Anyway, I'll consider doing an 8 string or even a 6 string sometime in the future once we're caught up a bit. Right now we're just too busy to consider adding another model or option to our already over-wide range.

Imagine how I feel thinking all this time you were redesigning an 8 string.

You could make it up to me, though. Image

Mr. Hall,

Respectfully, sir, how 'bout axing that god-awful mutated 4001C64 / 4001C64S if you need to reduce your range of basses to make room...

Taking a beautiful thing, and mutating it to resemble the weekend result of a stoned musician's amateur hack job with a sanding block is sad!

(And you thought we weren't any fun!)

Guess it's a matter of opinion as we can't seem to make enough of those right now.

Sell me an unfinished 4004Cii5 with black hardware and all will be forgiven. Image

Make that 2 unfinished 4004Cii5's. I've been waiting about 17 years for a fingerstyle friendly Rickenbacker 5 string bass
