Im confused about the seven string guitar what would be a practical use for it
?is the 7th string low or hi?

7th String is tuned to low B I believe. Some heavy metal guys used to play (and perhaps still do) them for low growly sounds. I still see the odd Ibanez around from time to time. I tried to play one on one occasion but I could not make immediate sense of it. So that was it for me. It got filed away in my mind as not being practical.

Some jazz players use a 7 string guitar, such as a Benedetto, for bass lines while comping or playing melodies. A good example is Bucky Pizzarelli.

7-string is tuned dAFCGDA, so the chord tabs are a bit different, some think it's easier to play a 7-string... here, it's used a lot in folk songs and so called "singer-songwriter song", as an accompaniment (not to play solos), along with 12-string.
