Ringo was an adequate drummer. He let the others shine. An english teacher in HS (about a decade after the Beatles broke up) was wise to point out the importance of George Martin to the overall product...

I remember getting the news about John Lennon when my alarm clock went off the next morning. "Imagine" or "Givev Peace a Chance" was playing, and afterwards the DJ recapped the horrible news. What was a good morning mood was instantly drained of joy.

The sad part was John was making a return to the music world. After 6 years or so of being Mr. Mom he was ready to begin a new chapter. Double Fantasy was a great album - I was so excited to heard good tunes from him again.

Steve, I still didn't get it, but I read the lyrics to CG and could make no correlation between Lennon and CG.

"I heard the news today, oh boy..."
I heard about it in the middle of the afternoon between classes at high school (grade 10). Had to take the rest of the afternoon off. I couldn't believe that someone would shoot a guy like JL who tried his best to do nothing but good things for everyone else most of his life.
I think the Beatles were at their best when all together, but of the individual members I liked John's work the best. Never could get into Paul or George's stuff.
What makes the whole thing more sad is the fact that, unlike most people, John tried to use his fame & influence to better educate people to try & live together in peace & tolerance. Truly ironic.

Sean, It was 2 seperate items, one about Dime and another about John. It's a shame that these 2 tragedies occurred on the same day. It made that day on my calendar even darker.
