Its definitely check binding, both sides!

He replaced the original knobs with larger knobs but he kept the original knobs.

That AG is beautiful!
Does anyone have a series of pics showing headstock variations of the 12 string v64's throughout the years? I'd like to see the differences and learn which is "more authentic" if that makes sense.
I've got a July '92 (FG) that has a nice darker red to it, and the center is nicely aged like Ron's - or maybe even a little darker.
Also, my tuners say Ric Deluxe on them (no hex bushings) - so are those real or fake Klusons?

They're not really 'fake', 'reissue' is a more apt description...and correct for your guitar. The Kluson company was no more, and an accurate repro had to be made....

Thanks John! "Reissue" Kluson tuners are perfectly fine with me. Got similar era (earlt '90's) ones (Gotoh manufacture) on a couple of my Fenders.
And I don't really care either way - Just wondered what the "Ric Deluxe" tuners really are.
Fwiw, they stay in tune perfectly!!

Well so now you guys know the truth I wasn't kidding. Thanks John for posting the pictures for me. For some reason I can E mail to the forum but it won't let me send pictures keeps coming up pictures too big. Anyway her serial number is TH3259. I also sent pictures to Bob and John of my mapleglow 360v64six that I picked up at a long Island guitar show from pick of the ricks. She was sitting in a nice display and the maple is very swirly and dark. That combination just caught my eye. Her serial number is 00 22812. I wonder if Bob can post the mapleglow pictures? By the way has anyone ever approached John Hall about a custom shop? Anyway if anybody is listening out there here is what I perceive to be the perfect rick. Bring back autumnglow finish on 360c63 12 add checkered binding both sides and soundhole add triangle inlays to all positions stereo wired so you can use rickosound if you want. Add the high ohm toasters. And to satisfy everybody offer jetglow, mapleglow and fireglow in the color choices. Well I think I have covered the list. Thanks Ron Seebol

I've never been a big fan of this color, but Ratso's guitar is making me rethink this whole issue. It's gorgeous.

Interesting thread revival. I used to own #C0 9531, which is now in Jake's hands. It's just 6 numbers away from the one on page 1 of this thread.

Yep. I really do love it, Jdog, and it's one of my favorite guitars. Strangely, when I saw the '87 V64, I was thinking the same thing. I need to get some TI's for it soon, and it'll be back in full action.
