Likewise Patrick. I am not a fan either, of celebrity signatures on guitars.

I like those words "intrinsic value" learned about that in a college Macro economics course. Inherent value or built in value, ie. gold, silver ect. versus paper money(fiat) only has value because the gov't says so, no intrinsic value, just paper.

It says something about Yoko One that a RIC signature guitar for John is the only time lawyers have been involved. Kind of makes you wonder if that is one of the reasons why the others had a hard time getting along with her before and after John was gone.

No kidding Greg.
You know I have always maintained that a leopard cannot change its spots. She always appeared to me to be like a blood sucker, feeding off his income and now of course, feeding off his estate.
I think we have seen and heard enough of her to understand why the others did not like her.

"paper money...only has value because the gov't says so..."
And what the gov't 'says' only 'goes' because...
"He who has the Gold makes the Rules..."
Besides, paper money is just loaded with celebrity likenesses and signatures...Dead President Trading Cards: Collect 'Em All!

Well, it's a deal, Steve...thanks to Peter's tolerance and seemingly endless supply of good will (gee, he's a nice guy even when he's mad-as-hell...something to be learned there)...
I do have a tendency to go skating out onto thin ice...gotta remember not to carry an anvil with me when I do...

Dane: Your earlier quote, "He who has the gold, makes the rules" -- (In Disney's Aladdin) A disguised Jafar says the same thing to Aladdin.
Sadly, they didn't have any Ricks at all in the kingdom of Agrabah!

I don't have much to say that hasn't already been mentioned here, other than the 360/12c63s are superb and I'm sure George would love them.

IMHO, signature models should either be...
1. Replicas of a modified or personalised guitar that the artist is famous for using.
Or...
2. A new model (or most likely a new variation on an existing model) which has been designed in partnership with the artist.
If George bought and used "off the shelf" models without personalising them in any way then I'm sure a vintage reissue (not a signature model) of that model would suit George's fans perfectly, as they would be happy in the knowledge that they are buying the same off-the-shelf item that George used to such great effect.

On a less serious note...
I can't believe Rickenbacker were so careless as to omit this little "personalisation" from the PT signature model!!...

Thank god he finally grew into that nose and is quite a handsome fellow these days...
I have the RIC poster featuring Townshend hanging above my computer...he looks rested, charming, and anything but angry any more!
Am I seeing a pickup selector switch without a plastic tip on the guitar above? The tip looks mighty small and nickel instead of black.

I think it's just the glare from lights or the flash. It appears to be in the bridge pickup position. I can't imagine that PT would lose the cover to it!!!

I agree, except for one case: I'm very proud to have Chet Atkins' sig on my '62 Gretsch Tennessean's guard!

I'd be very happy with that too, Glenn. I played one some months back (owned by a fellow forumite) - a truly lovely guitar.....
