Nah, Telecasters are good too. Hey, you could get her flowers at the same time! http://cgi.ebay.com/BLUE-FLOWER-FENDER-TELECASTER_W0QQitemZ7375370932QQcategoryZ38083QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Melissa: In fact, she's so addicted to our new "baby" Telecoustic that i doubt she needs anything else...
a bit too heavy for her, but she manages to do some stuff (and a lot of noise when it's plugged - oh!)... but who knows, if it was a little mouse instead of kitty...

Saw those "Hello Kitty" Squiers the other day, and I wouldn't mind having one for myself. Hey, I really LIKE weird stuff like that.
Anyway, I'm also one of those weirdos that always advocates getting children a full size instrument for them to learn on. Yeah, it might be a bit hard for them at first, but motivated kids adapt.
My daughter was 9 or 10 when she got her first guitar (a normal standard Strat) and she's now a great player.
And, if you think about how piano lessons are usually the first exposure to playing any instrument, there sure aren't any pianos made in "kid size" as far as I know...

In fact there are "kid size" pianos, Steve
i had one when i was young...
But i agree, my daughter started picking on my guitar when she was about 4 or 5, and it was a real guitar, not a toy... a huuuge one... well, now even barre isn't impossible for her, albeit it took her several years of training (why not - she's only 8 now and has a long way to go
Well i actually meant this "hellokitty" for some guy you don't know...
