RE: Stuart's earlier post-- George played his 12 on a whole bunch of songs at the 1964 Hollywood Bowl concert. Twist and Shout was great but another cool one was I Want To Hold Your Hand. The boys break into this one right after If I Fell. The 12 sounds mega-great! Real bright and sparkly. It sounds superb on "Hand". (I have an old Beat-leg of this concert (excellent fidelity) and a lo-fi/lo-res video tape of the concert. George's Rickenbacker is clearly seen when he's playing it.) Good stuff!

Yep, at live shows George often played his 360/12 on songs that he recorded with a Gretsch. Their sets were notoriously short, so it seems like he would have had time to ask Mal Evans to hand him a different guitar if he wanted one. As far as I know, when the Beatles toured, they only ever took two guitars each (and none for Ringo!). They must have been 'big time'. When the Kinks toured the US, they only brought one guitar each. When Dave Davies' favorite Guild was lost or damaged by the air carrier, he had to rush around NYC looking for a replacement. That's when he bought his trademark Flying Vee.
