Aitch, are you gonna charter a private plane so you can personally carry all your goods on the return trip home? That's what I'd do instead of trusting gear to shippers.

On the other hand, you could just make it a one way trip and stay here in the States permanently!

Oh, but to answer the original question, I really don't have any serious GAS for anything. I've already got a ton of choice gear that doesn't get much use as it is.

Well, OK, I am sort of thinking of a new amp of some sort but I don't know exactly what yet. I'd like a Vox or Marshall or Dr. Z or ? - something different from my Fenders. But it'd have to be like the ultimate amp to use with my 360/12v64. And I'd make it work with all my Fender and Gibson guitars too.

That's not to say my current Fender amps don't sound good with the Ric (they do!), but I'm always thinking of that greener grass that isn't in my yard yet.

Currently (besides the ones mentioned above) I'm thinking of an old Music Man and a BF Fender Vibroluxe Reverb (with JBL's) that are in local stores here. My problem is that I tend to think too long and the amps get sold to someone else in the meantime.

Sheesh, one local store was going out of business a couple months ago and the had an Ampeg VT-22 marked at $300! It needed new grillcloth but otherwise it was in real nice shape. And my reason for not buying it immediately? I know how heavy those are and I didn't want to carry that weight out to my car! Also didn't want to carry it up to my 3rd floor apartment either.

What a drag it is getting old...

No way will I be having them shipped, perhaps with the exception of the 'wallaby' guitar I may take over with me. I figure if Darren Trott managed to bring 7 or 8 back with only an excess baggage fee then I should be OK with one or two.

"He who hesitates is lost".... I visited a local store on Wednesday to buy a couple of cables to connect my mixer to a new sound card and they had some new Boss DR-880 drum machines reduced from $999 to $749. Needless to say, I didn't hesitate.....

I've never been willing to fly with any guitar myself. Couldn't bear to watch the carnage in person. But I've ordered a few online and had them shipped to me overnight, so that's the same thing I guess.

In fact, a couple years ago I flew out to San Diego for a long weekend of recording and jamming with friends from all over the country. Second day there I bought a Gibson LP Special at Guitar Trader and played it the whole weekend. My friend (the host that weekend) worked at GT at the time so it was all set. I bought the guitar, played it a lot in our sessions, and after I came home he shipped it to me - got it the next day. I wasn't hardly going to try flying home (with a stop in Vegas) with it in its pitiful excuse for a gigbag. I was just real lucky to get a multi-day preview of the guitar while I was there, and then they shipped it as if I'd ordered it online.

And I totally agree with "He who hesitates is lost" too. But it still astounds me as to what Oz vs. US prices are. I don't know what US prices are for that DR-880, but they're a heck of a lot less than $749. A friend of mine has one and it's a great machine - you're gonna love it. I know we're talking about money exchange rates here, and I don't totally understand them, but I know that if that Boss DR-880 would cost $749 here in the States, then not too many people would buy it.

And what you've paid for your Rics... well...

Reminds me of another friend who took a semester off college to tour Europe. He took a LOT of Levi's bluejeans and traded them for all kinds of cool stuff. Worth more than any kind of money.

Seems the going price in the USA for a DR-880 is around $495, Steve. That's about $665 AUD. Add freight, 3% duty and 10% GST and they're about par.

Please don't get me started on the price of Ricks over here.......

I think that in 2006, I should be able to get either a Tennessean or a Casino.

Past that, some reasonable acquisitions might include something like a JangleBox and/or a Line 6 Roto Machine.

Wishful "probably not going to happen" ideas would chiefly include a Vox tube amp. We'll see!

I'll have to wait and see what is in store for the Ric lineup for '06 before I say with certainty that I'm all set with Rics for the year. Other than that I'm looking to pick up a small combo for home noodling.....probably a SWR LA-10. Not much else.

If Spring approaches with no major house projects I may begin my home made 5 string 4004 inspired bass project. I have my parts list, tool access and design ready to go. Now all I need is the money and motivation.

I'm not at all interested in buying any more guitars. I need to practice playing the the ones I already have.

On the other hand, some PC recording gear, a Janglebox, and an 18 watt clone keeps popping up in the back of my mind.
