The irony here is the serial # on these basses is stamped on the tailpiece[bridge].

As I wrote this thread I hesitated to do so even after waiting so long to get these pics. I knew that in sharing my design that I would not only open myself to kudos but also to possible negative criticism. As I like this bridge design it is surely not for the purists. That being said I did not post pics of the bass because it has no original hardware and did not want to open this up to critiquing of the bass. I had hoped to keep this thread on topic but what was I thinking?
Oh yeah not a '57, walnut neck through.

Hey Ken, old basses were made to be played. If its your bass, and you feel that your bridge makes it a better instrument, well then by all means go for it.
I dont think anyones gonna be critical here, we're all just drooling because what you seem to have is very rare, and a significant piece of history, we dont get to see many pictures of them.

Ken,I was not critiquing your bass I happen to love the 50s early 60s basses no matter what hardware they have these basses were not great players unless modified to be,
If your bridge does the job more power to you,I don't care if its got the original this or that its a old 4000,
I don't don't have one I wish I did in any shape please show us the bass they are all works of art.
I do happen to know where they stamped the serial # I don't know if thats the only spot?

I don't think anyone here would look down on the bass.
These are so rare in any condition that most of us just want to see one. They were so quirky any way that some needed
work over the years just to keep them playable.
So show us some pics please
