According to European Community law agreements, in a private deal a buyer can ask for a return ONLY if the item doesn't match the description and/or something is wrong with the instrument. I don't know if it's the same in the States...

"I told him before he bought it if its messed up truss rods screwed up...I would take it back."
What makes you think that might happen? If you think he may in fact have other CS basses I'd be real careful about possible switched out parts. Get the bass back and inspect it first before refunding him anything.

It doesn't smell right Ken.
Make sure he sends it to you first for inspection, then send the money..

I sold a 59 Dodge a few years back. Listed every possible thing wrong with the car, and set my reserve to what I felt fair market value would be. Nuts bid it to the stratosphere,
and then expect me to take it back because the chrome was pitted. I refused.
Later, I see that said buyer is selling a trashed 59(not mine). Parts swap for sure! Hmmm as I Had suspected all along!
Point is-
Tell him to pound sand!

I know it's been said before but get the bass before you send him the money. Even GC does it that way;-)
