Let's not get too literal here. They're referring to the native region of woods but many are plantation grown elsewhere. Some nice "African" woods are grown in Belize, Costa Rica, and New Zealand, as well as Asia.

For goodness sakes, there's a forest of Hong Kong Grove trees growing around the corner from here, and "Australian" eucalyptus is everywhere in California.

One of the biggest forests of Pau Ferro is out on Catalina Island, off the coast of Los Angeles.

Yes, you are right. I was wrongly assuming the native region to be the primary (and only) source. Plantation growing is indeed very common in Central America but I did not know that some of the trees grown there are not native.

There was one right out the front window of my apartment in Mar Vista; I kept looking out the window wondering when I would see a Koala Bear!
