Let's not get too literal here. They're referring to the native region of woods but many are plantation grown elsewhere. Some nice "African" woods are grown in Belize, Costa Rica, and New Zealand, as well as Asia.
For goodness sakes, there's a forest of Hong Kong Grove trees growing around the corner from here, and "Australian" eucalyptus is everywhere in California.
One of the biggest forests of Pau Ferro is out on Catalina Island, off the coast of Los Angeles.
