Other than differences in the wood itself, I don't know why there would be a significant weight difference between 60's and 70's 4001s. My '63 is close to the weight of my '80. I have played some Ricks that are unusually heavy. Marc Seligman's sea green is one of the heaviest Ricks I have ever played. I have encountered a few others over the years.

Mine too, Jeff. I'd be curious to put it on a scale, but I think my Cheyenne I is around 8 lbs.

My heaviest is my 4001C64S...even though it shed about a half lb when I removed the 'shoes!

I think somebody got into some bad Fugu!

The skunk stripe adds a little weight.
Also, different types of Maple are heavier than others...
Finishes too can add weight.

Didnt the original Westone Electra basses have a "Rickenbacker Style" bridge ??

Looks like Squire's has a Badass.

Yes, the Electra does indeed have a BA bridge on it.

Found a pic of an original Electra. Notice the bridge, the ONLY thing that looks like a Rick.

I wonder if Chris was attracted by the pickup location??

Wonder if he has a prototype? The control layout is completely different. Hmmmm.

Makes you wonder what that ugly thing might really sound like.

Great sound up close!

Another angle on the Electra.

Chris did not have any other basses with him other than the RM1999, Electra and 4001CS, of which he never played.

"Makes you wonder what that ugly thing might really sound like."

The Electra sounded great, actually very much like my California Precision Special, very grindy and full with a nice biting top end.
