Hey Steve - was there any particular crowd reaction to the CS? Not that there are tons of people who are "bass aware", but it's such an usual piece to see onstage.
As far as a SE Michigan gathering, I'd consider bringing my CS out of the house - crossing the border with it is pretty disconcerting though, to be truthful.

Sadly, I dont think there were a lot of "rickenbacker-savvy" people in the house, but it sounded great and it appears we are going to be playing there more often, so I am guessing it sounded great!
Christopher, I assume you are in Ontario?

Yup, I'm in Windsor. I looked at your profile, and I see you're in Walled Lake. I know I used to deliver there (quite a long time ago) - that's up past the 96/696/275 split, isn't it? Back then, I worked days driving straight truck and then cube van. Now I drive tractor trailer and work all kinds of insane hours. If I'd known then what I know now...

Yep, you're in the right hood!
I think we all kick ourselves for not knowing then what we know now...if that was the case I would have 3-4 of those CS models

My CS's (#526) "birth certificate" says she was "born" on Nov. 29, 1993 ... again, "knowing what we know now", it's hard for me to believe she was still available for "adoption" when I sealed the deal on or about Jan. 06, 1996 ... but, I think I did hear these were rather slow sellers for a while.

I've always wondered if the "birthdate" is the date the order to start it is placed, or the date the bass ships out.

Actually guys, I was talking about upgrading to my tractor trailer licence when I said "if I knew then what I know now".
Now in the context of CS's, well...I guess that statement would apply there also.

I actually tried for a year to get my local *supposed* RIC authorized dealer to finalize my order. They actually wanted, at one point, to refund my money because they kept saying it was too difficult to procure one for me (why? I have no idea). Thank goodness I stuck to my guns - I think they got tired of me and finally grabbed one from Elderly in Michigan.

Mike, I meant to ask you, what kind of strings did you have on that CS? VERY nice and sounded great!

Steve - last time I had her set up, I took her back to Huber and Breese in Roseville. I liked how the first (original) set of strings sounded (told you I didn't play her much LOL), so I asked H and B to order a set of Ric strings from the factory for the set-up.
She's now had maybe 31 hours of playtime since that set-up (that counts your hour with her).
Yes, I would agree that she sounded great with those strings ... never heard her played with a pick before either, and I enjoyed the sound very much.

Kevin, that bass deserves the love, I was blown away by Mike's! If I had the money, I would have taken it home with me...

Mike came by today ... he is thinking of getting a 4003 and having me 4-2-5 it for him ... well I got him to bring by his 4001cs ... it is a sweet player and very clean ... it has a neck that is slimmer than most 4003 basses ... here are some pictures ...

There's just something about that rug. It's like the opposite of "Sorry Charlie, only the best tuna". etc. Only if you are worthy, do you get on the "rug"!

Jeff - it was a pleasure to meet you today! Glad you enjoyed seeing and playing the CS.
If anyone here is on the fence about considering one of Jeff's 4-2-5s, don't be! He has a good mix of various Ric models, and all have their own sound and "personality" ... all played and sounded great, but the 4003 4-2-5 really grabbed me ... I just dig that Ric traditional look and sound, and to have that with a 5th string ... whoa, baby!
Thanks also for taking and posting the pics of my CS!
