If it's going to be in Melbourne, pretty much any time suits me - except Easter (Dubbo) and mid-August to mid-October, when I'll be on the other side of the planet. Hmmmm.... you guys might decide to have it then so I'm not there! Haha! Image

I'm sure that between us Melbourne guys we can find a nice little venue that's geographically friendly and secure. I have access to the social rooms of a couple of sporting clubs, one of which is behind locked gates and has 24 hour surveillance with 2 hourly security patrols. A weekend during school holidays would be perfect if we were to use those facilities. Plus, there's a very large pub just across the road!!

However, I'm leaning more towards a nice little pub or motel somewhere with a small function room or something like that. I have a friend who owns a motel in Mulgrave, so that may be a possibility, too.

Howard, I thought we might go for later in the year. That way we can all check our diaries and find a weekend free. No hurry and we can plan better etc

You know i'll show up! Whenever and wherever! And i'm more then happy to help in the running, setting up etc etc. Count my friend Brendan in as well,as he was unavailble for the mini-confluence at Darren's home last year, he won't miss out again!(he plays a Rick bass).

Hi Guys, sorry I haven't been on the board for a day or so, well it sounds great. Shall we aim for a date later in the year? Keen on hearing when would suit most of us.

November or December would suit fine. Is that what you had in mind, Gerry?

Ah, I missed this thread until today. I would LOVE to get in on the action, but it'll be very hit-or-miss with being able to get leave from work at the right time, no matter what date you guys choose. Put me down as "Keen if I can".

Even if I miss out on the official party I may be able to join in on one of your unofficial mini-confluences later on, as I've already made plans to head down your way for the Grand Prix in 1997.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity, Carl. We'll be here. Image

Be great if you can make the big one but I understand the difficulties.

Carl, you're too late mate. The 1997 Grand Prix has already been run! It must take a while for news to travel to Queensland! Image

Howard, Greg and I will make you feel welcome whenever you come down south to Melbourne.

I'm all for November...the weather should not be too hot and it's not too close to Christmas.

Whaddaya reckon?

Missed that one, Darren...... maybe they're planning a mini grand prix in a 1997. Won't be mine, that's for sure!

Suits me just fine. Perhaps Cup Day weekend?

Aitch, That's a great idea. What is the date then? Maybe we can aim for the Saturday or Sunday. Do you think we will need more than one day?

Hmmmm.. first Tuesday in November is the 7th. That would make it the weekend of the 4th and 5th. Just tossing it around here, but if people are coming from interstate, I'd make it a 2 day affair - depends on when people arrive. Maybe Saturday afternoon with a dinner event that night. Sunday morning could be a jam (or recovery) with a farewell brunch or something like that..... We gotta eat!!

Thoughts?

Maybe by then I'll be able to play a few notes, too. Image
