Juke boxes (proper valve ones) are in great demand over here as it is very fasionable to have one (all the lovies are driving the prices sky high). I have been offered bucket loads of cash for mine, but it isn't for sale.

Neither is mine for sale. I tried to get this particular one for about ten years and finally the owner said "you know I do need some bricks to face a fireplace". I could not believe my ears.

The TV is a Sony KP-51WS500 51" widescreen.

Speakers are Boston Acoustic VR-M series (1xVRMC center and 4xVR-M50 for front and surround) the sub is a 1000 watt PV1000.

The receiver and speakers are the best that I could reasonably afford and I feel they are at the point that to get anything that sounds better would cost at least five times what I paid.....so I see no real need to upgrade. The TV was basically top of the line when I bought it and the picture is still phenominal so I'll wait until it tanks to score a nice LCD or DLP flat screen.

It is great to put it in "6 channel" mode to listen to CD's. I was blown away with the clarity when I bought it and still feel great every time I crank it up. I'll match the DTS surround ability with any theater I have been to in recent years so watching movies with the fireplace roaring is also a treat.

I absolutely love it Brian. Our bass player in 1965 had a bass amplifier made from a jukebox.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I pursued that juke relentlessly. It belonged to a good friend on mine who used to own a hotel/bar.

It was sitting in his woodshed for about three years before I finally pried it out of his hands. Neil had one condition. I was never to sell it. So it has to stay in my family to honor his wishes.

It looks cool when it all lit up eh?

Absolutely Abbott, three of my records from the 60s are in it. All recorded with Rickenbackers and all on the now defunct Quality Records of Canada label.

Brian,

I have the Yamaha RX-V1000 as well. Great specs but even better sound. You really can't beat it for the price. I use 6.1 Bose cube speakers and the Acoustimass module, Yamaha DVD/CD player, Technics RS-BR465 autoreverse cassette, and a Thorens TD-2030 turntable in the living room.

In my "play" room it's more modest. I use a Technics SU-55 amp to drive two Acoustic Audio H-CD12 speakers (one at each end of the room) connected to my PC running Sonar and Behringer mixer.

The living room sounds amazing. I was very impressed with the Bose cubes. They sound really clear and very loud.

My first amp was an early 50's RCA TV, had a phono jack in back and a 12" speaker, sounded ok but was heavy as hell and looked kind of strange onstage.
Stereo:
Marantz 2385 with double large Advents, Technics turntable, Technics CD player, Akia Cassette deck.
The Marantz is a really nice big heavy late 70's receiver, 185 WRMS per channel both driven into 8 ohms, 240 at 4 ohms, it sounds silky, almost tube-like. With the double large Advents this system can really shake the house.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a pair of Klipsch Heresey speakers at a garage sale a couple of years ago. They sounded great through my Pioneer SX850 (65 watter) but a friend of mine offered me his McIntosh tube amp and pre-amp a few months ago! He had owned it since original in mid 60's. So I bought a Dual 1229 turntable and now I am buying old LP's to really bring back that 60's vibe. Now I'm playing bass (mostly '68 Ric 4001) to this set up all my spare time. I'm in heaven!

That Mac 240 is beautiful! It don't get any better than that. Very collectible too. Klipsch Heresy-great combo with that Mac. Those older design Klipsch horn type are excellent-very efficient too. I'm sure that Mac/Klipsch can rattle the walls if need be. Ever hear Klipschorns? I heard a demo years ago. The salesman put on a direct to disc (vinyl) recording of a drum solo then turned it up louder than a live solo. The Mac running them was maybe peaking at about 10 watts at the time-very efficient speakers-they sounded amazing. The Marantz/Advent setup is nice too. I have owned the original Advents, read about stacking them way back when they came out-it was "the thing to do". Do you have the "top" one inverted? If not, might I suggest you give it a try. I bet that 50" RCA would look great on stage-even better than Geddy Lee's washing machine amps! Hey, you could display a Ric photo slide show through it-that would be a cool stage lighting effect! I must say though that Geddy get's a real clean sound out of them though (sorry, couldn't pass that up). By the way, I have found some great things at garage sales. Got my Nakamichi deck at one for FREE! It was used for years at an autobody shop a was totally caked with dust,bondo,dirt,paint chips etc... I was able to clean it all off and it works perfectly. Got an NAD integrated amp from there too-same story-free,dirty,works perfectly now. Picked up a Peavey classic 30 in perfect cond. at a yard sale a while back for $25.00! I asked the woman why she was selling it. Response "my son is away at school and I don't think he needs it anymore". I would have strangled her! I didn't feel guilty buying it though, since she would have just sold it to someone else if I didn't buy it. We could probably start a link on "what my parents or spouse threw out/sold when I wasn't around"- I sure there are alot of sad stories out there.
