The only question, regarding Paul's story, is the following... if she returns the money to the buyer, then...
What's the big idea???

Andrew:

No need to apologize! I didn't take it that way and in no way took offence! Not a problem at all!
This is turning out to be very cathartic (forgive the use of the word) but getting all the different view points is a big help, thanks everyone!

I'm just frustrated that my wife took the initiative to do something special and got stung.

I'm sure it will all work out for the best....I HOPE....Image

Tony,

Thanks for the offer. Nice of you to be so willing to help! Image
I don't see crowding being a problem, since I will only have three basses, but I'll let you know. The only problem will be with the old Jazz Bass. I don't see it getting much attention in the future! Image

Hey Paul,

WOW, that is good to hear (about the refund, that is)...What the heck's up with that?

THANKS! The phone number would be GREAT! If it doesn't get cleared up in the next few days, I'll take you up on that! THANK YOU!

Sorry to hear you had the same bad experience. This is TOO WEIRD. I wonder if its a divorce sale? Image Got me, I sure can't figure it out!

I was seconds away from pulling the trigger on that BIN then I saw the sanded horns. As they say, if it seems too good to be true.........

Hey guys!

I've seen at least 3 V63's that had sanded horns and a satin sealer finish and all were claimed to have come from the factory like that. At first I was a non-believer, but they all look the same...good enough to be a factory job. Kinda makes me think that maybe RIC made a small batch of C64S-like V63's to "test the water."

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Tony. I saw that one on ebay and thought about it briefly...but I already have too darned many basses, so I thought I'd let somebody else score a deal.

Your wife gets a high-five from me for the gesture, though.

And shame on the ******** that sabotaged the ebay deal; both the seller and the one who approached her with a better offer.

Way back when Rick had announced the C series, the catalogue did picture a bass with a right handed peghead
and sanded horns. This picture quietly disappeared as
the first c64's came off the line.

I was disappointed with that as I had hoped for a c64 with a RH peghead.

I don't mind the reversed pegheads of the C's, but much prefer the V63!

Kevin-
Yeah, I prefer the v63s too- especially the ones from
the early 90's that were fairly close to right.
I guess I'm not in the target market for the c64.
I never wanted one like Macca's; I wanted one like Quaif's,
Water's, Entwhistle's, the dude from Stray, Lemmy,
oh yeah and Squire.....

Sheena, IMO the "big deal" is that the seller appears to have a history of bogus bail-outs, which is not what eBay is supposed to be about.

If this happened to me, I would probably try to raise as much hell as possible with eBay, knowing sadly that they would never do anything against any "power seller".

John,

I agree on the early 90's V's. My mapleglo is a '93, and the Fireglo (that shipped yesterday!) is a '92! Image

They have everything that I want!

Brian:

No update yet....STILL WAITING for the "refund". I notified the CC company, E-bay, & PAYPAL STILL shows as "PENDING".

The CC company said they will be sending out paper work for me to fill out. In the meantime, I'll keep watching Paypal and see what happens...

I'll let everyone know when SOMETHING happens, good or bad...

Thanks for asking!
