Ted, there certainly is at least one short scale 4001, 'cause I nearly bought it once, and was thwarted by the fact that the shop wasn't set up to take credit cards...and I had no real money!!

I have yet to see one, but there were 4 or 5 six-string 4001 bases made in the mid 60s.

Paul, those photos of the purpleburst guitar you posted are beautiful. I love that color!
