Has anyone played a RIC acoustic? What do they sound like, play like? I have a "to die for" Larrivee L05 that I wouldn't trade for the world. But I'd be interested in how the RIC would stack up against a high-end acoustic like a Larrivee, Martin, Collings etc.

Douglas, to give you a short answer (my opinion),

They play almost like a 330 or a 360. They sound warm and lively. I like my 700's better than my Gibson J's.

I LOVE my 700 Comstock.... Someday I'd like to get a 12-string Commie too. It's a different "anti-Martin" kind of sound that sparkles, with a great boomy percussive bass end.... And the action is nice and low; plays like a dream.

Douglas, the only guitar I could find which beat the Comstock was a Lowden. It beat the pants off everything in the acoustic room at Dave's Guitars.
Everything -except that Lowden. Image

Noel, you should have bought the Comstock when you had the chance....

Mid winter blahs = new guitar. I like that equation. Perhaps a Ric acoustic. Why didn't I think of that yesterday when I had support for my math?

The RIC website says "Front: Solid Spruce" "Back and Sides: Maple (or Rosewood)" Does this mean the RIC acoustics are ply back and sides?

I called Musician's Friend to see if I could buy this. They told me that none were on order and they could not give me a price. I asked if they could take my #, incase it showed up, and it was not a custom order. They said no.

O well...
