So Rickenbacker used a Hi-Gain in the treble position as far back as '68?? Cool.

Sorry, not an expert on the basses - Fall of '68 was when the bridge pickup went from horseshoe to higain?

Yes, and they may have been used alongside each other for a short time.

1973 saw the first High Gain in the neck.
The cool thing about the late horsey's is that Rick
would use the same coil for either type.
