Yes, Dane. Peter Asher played the cowbell. Joe Meek was in the control room screaming, "I must have more cowbell and a few more spacecraft noises!"

Why do musicians and singers always want to clobber the drummer?

Because they generally deserve it! Image

I always wanted to clobber the lead singer personally. Wait! That's me.

You'll certainly want to clobber me if I git's to singin' in September, Brian. Perhaps I'd better get you 'alcoholically challenged' before I start - then there might be a remote chance that you'll put up with it!! LOL Image

That's my kind of challenge - an alcoholic challenge!

I just got 'Pop Gear' on DVD, which is where the Honeycombs shots are taken from. Great song - still play it. Love those Burns!!

Wait a minute--Peter Asher was the drummer for the Honeycombs?

I thought she looked like a guy!

Her name is Anne "Honey" Lantree, Paul. One could say that she had a voice like a guy but I reckon the rest was genuine.

Might be unwise to start calling drummers "Honey"....IMO Image

Aitch,

You probably don't sing any worse than our Cockatoo does. She is able to produce a real ear piercing racket and for no apparent reason.

You probably know all about that though.

Honey's "That's the Way" vocal is pure chickie-pie all the way!! (nice!!)

Skip I can only remember one song of theirs that actually charted. Did they have any another songs that made it to the charts?

Hey, Brian. I'm just going from memory here but aside from Have I the Right, which was their big No.1, the 'Combs did have material that charted big in other countries! I know they had songs that charted in the Scandanavian countries and they were mega-big in Japan. Love in Tokyo was a big hit there.
Check this out - there was a live album that they did, intended only for Japanese release!
To find that LP now would be pretty tough but I know that there is a German company that put it out as a CD! Whether it's in stock is another matter but the live CD stuff is out there!!
