It only goes to show....A few years ago you couldn't give these away, I know that was the case when they were new. People, buy everything that nobody wants now for cheap, and wait 20 years...you'll have a gold mine.
BTW, I love Jazz Basses (no violence please)

Be adventurous, re-finish a 4003 in Antiqua. It's not a Rickenbacker feature, you say? Neither are Barts, SDs, replacement bridges, replacement tuners, mirror pickguards, treble pu surrounds with the handrest removed

, toaster pickups in the treble position

and so on, yet many Rick owners use them. Well?

Haha. I like jazz basses. I like the body shape to. But I hate how theres like 50 other companys that basically copy the body design. Its too common...

They are very common, but there's still something special about an original one!
My J-B plays every bit as good as my V63's.

My Fakeland (Lakland with a Fender neck) plays amazingly well. There are times when I prefer it to my Ricks.

"One thing to shy away from with that bass is the 3 bolt neck...ver poor design."
Ed: The number of bolts was not the real problem. Those Fenders often have neck pockets are not cut properly. A single bolt could secure the neck if the pocket is in spec. Of course, one bolt may not provide enough pressure to ensure a good acoustical fit but that is another issue. Leo Fender used a 3 bolt design effectively on Musicman and G&L instruments. I have never seen neck float on a G&L.

Personally I do not like the multiple coil Fender ANYTHING basses- I prefer the Precisions especially the telecaster style single coil versions. They have a barky, snarl to them that Jazz basses just dont have IMO.
See link, though regular readers have prolly seen it a million times-

I like the feel of the Jazz neck. However, for playing out live (and most other situations), I really prefer the sound of a 4003.
