Forgot to address this issue. Following cutting and silkscreening the black logotype, the plexi TRCs are batch-sprayed white.
So, since the sides are not masked off, there will be a certain amount of white which gets onto the sides. This is true also of gold TRCs. I've seen variations with almost none and recently received a gold TRC (on an exchange deal) that had so much gold overspray on its edges that I had to sand the edges and respray them, to get it to look normal.
Brian, I'm not surprised their machine failed. The machine at my local paint store failed miserably to match some enamel for one of my machines, and I eye-matched it in less than five minutes.
BTW, all my custom-color finishes (like Melissa's Purpleburst and a few others I'm working on currently) are mixed by eye. My eye, as my old man used to say.
